Our Annual Activities Report offers a thorough overview of ECRI’s work in 2024, showcasing our key publications, events, task forces, and interventions that have contributed to the policy discussions surrounding credit and payments.

  • On payments, ECRI has focused on the future of retail payments in the EU, with the set up of a Task Force that explores issues linked to competitiveness, innovation and consumer protection, as well as dedicated activities on the areas of instant payments and strategies to combat payment fraud.
  • On credit, the ECRI team has analysed critical areas such as data-sharing and its challenges, the impact of AI, and the status of over-indebtedness.
  • Another area that has been highlighted by ECRI's work is the ongoing development of digital finance and the increasing presence of cryptocurrencies, discussed to see how they can best be regulated.

Additionally, ECRI researchers have closely followed the formation of the new European Commission, evaluating its priorities in the area of finance and assessing whether their early initiatives align with evolving EU needs.
